Automatic universe management

Automatic universe management keeps your trading universe (the watch-list of symbols your strategies trade) fresh without asking you to approve every change. With it on, your universe follows one of three published lists Conservative,Moderate, or Aggressive — matching your selected strategy’s style. The lists are rules-based and identical for everyone tracking the same style: which large, actively-traded companies and major coins qualify, how long a name must qualify before it joins, and how quickly it can leave are all fixed, public rules — read them (and the live membership) on Universe lists & methodology. Nothing is picked for you personally.

Turning it on: one review, then hands-free

The first switch-on is a short ceremony: a dialog names the list your strategy tracks, spells out exactly what will happen automatically, and links to the methodology page. Turn it on and your universe syncs to the list the same day — symbols the list carries are added into your remaining plan room, and from then on the daily review keeps you in step. You’ll see each change as an in-app note (“Universe updated”), not an approval request. Switching to a strategy with a different style re-runs the same short ceremony, this time showing the concrete before/after: which symbols would enter, which would leave, and which of those you currently hold.

What happens automatically

  • Adds: list symbols you don’t yet track are added, best-ranked first, into whatever room your plan’s universe limit leaves.
  • Removals: when a symbol drops off your list and you hold no shares, it simply leaves your universe. If you do hold shares, the symbol is marked exiting: while automatic trading is on, the position is sold at the next daily run through every normal safeguard (your caps, the kill switch, and — for live accounts — the paper→live gate), and the symbol is removed once the position is closed. With automatic trading off, nothing sells: the symbol stays visibly marked as exiting until you act or it re-enters the list.
  • Your own picks stay yours: symbols you added by hand are never touched — unless you switch on Let list updates replace my own picks, and even then a hand-pick is only replaced when the list needs the room, newest pick first.

When the list rules change

Routine fine-tuning of the list rules just applies — your account keeps following the list without interruption. A major change — one that alters what kinds of things a list may hold, or what happens automatically in your account — pauses automatic updates for your account, shows a banner on every screen, and emails you (the email is on by default when you enable automatic management; opt out any time in Notifications) until you review and agree again — one click. Exits already in progress still complete: the pause never leaves a half-finished exit hanging.

What it won’t do

The sync itself never places an order — buying and selling happen only through the automatic-trading engine and its safeguards, or by you. It never chooses symbols for you personally: membership comes from the published rules, and only your plan’s size limit and your own settings shape how much of the list fits. Today the automatic changes apply to paper accounts; accounts trading live keep their universe exactly as-is while live support finishes its review. And as always, this is not investment advice: the lists are computation, published for everyone, and the decision to track one is yours.
