The onboarding wizard, step by step
The first-run wizard collects just enough to make the dashboard meaningful: an acknowledged disclaimer, optional paper keys, a starting universe, and your email preferences. Six steps, in this order:
- DisclaimerRead and acknowledge the risk disclaimer. This is the only hard requirement in the wizard: SleeveFolio is a tool for trading your own money, and we want that understood before anything else.
- BrokerPaste your Alpaca paper API key and secret (from the Alpaca dashboard’s Paper Trading section). They’re verified against Alpaca before saving and stored encrypted. You can skip this and add keys later under Settings → Broker.
- UniverseChoose the symbols this account tracks: your trading universe. The field starts with a small example list; add tickers separated by commas. You can reshape it anytime on the Universe page.
- RiskA read-only preview of your starting risk limits: sleeve budgets (how much of your account each bucket, whether stocks, crypto, or cash, may use) and the default caps every account gets. The full editor lives at Risk & Caps after onboarding: nothing to decide here yet.
- NotificationsChoose whether you want the daily or weekly digest emails. Both start off: the recurring digests are opt-in. Safety alerts — the kill-switch, reconciliation drift, risk caps, and billing — default on (and the kill-switch email can’t be switched off); tune the rest anytime under Notifications.
- ReviewOne last look at everything, then finish. You land on the dashboard.
