Upgrade, downgrade, cancel

Billing lives under Settings → Billing. Paid checkout and payment management run through Stripe, but they are paused for now while paid plans are unavailable, so a Free account only sees plan details (not a working upgrade or payment portal).

Upgrading

Upgrading isn’t open yet. Paid plans are paused while we finish the safety groundwork before any real money is involved, so everyone is on Free with paper (practice) trading on their own Alpaca account, no card needed. The pricing page still shows the Pro plan and a billing choice (monthly, or annual to save 20%), but choosing Pro shows a short notice instead of opening a checkout. When Pro opens, your first upgrade will start a 14-day free trial: Pro unlocks right away (your universe cap, how long your audit history is kept, and your live-trading eligibility all move up), you aren’t charged until the trial ends, and cancelling before then costs nothing.

Cancelling

Cancel from the billing page; you keep Pro through the period you’ve paid for, then drop to Free. Nothing you’ve paid for is taken back, and there’s no surprise cutoff mid-period.

If a payment fails

If a renewal payment doesn’t go through, live trading pauses right away as a safety measure until the payment succeeds — new live orders, single-position closes, and auto-execute are all held. Your positions stay exactly as they are at your broker, and the one-click kill-switch (Pause, Cancel open orders, Liquidate) stays available the whole time, so you can always flatten if you need to.

You won’t have to notice a blocked order to find out: the moment a payment fails or a subscription lapses, SleeveFolio emails you and posts an in-app alert pointing you to Settings → Billing to update your payment method. It’s one of the alerts you can tune under Settings → Notifications.

What survives a downgrade

• Your broker account and positions: untouched, always; they live at Alpaca
• Live trading: turns off (Free is paper-only); your account flips back to paper
• A universe over 30 symbols: stops growing, but you can still trim it — an edit that only removes symbols is allowed even while you’re over the cap (adding a new one stays blocked until you’re back within the Free 30), so you can shrink it down in as many steps as you like
• Audit history: only the most recent 30 days stay available
