Pause trading

Pause is the gentle lever: it stops all trading immediately (the automatic engine and any manual order you try to place) and nothing else. Positions stay. Orders already open at the broker stay. Signals keep computing. They just can’t place new trades.

If the automatic run is already going

Pause takes effect before the next order is sent. The daily automatic run checks it again once it has worked out its orders and again before each order it sends, so if you pause while it is sending, the one order already on its way to your broker finishes and every order after it is held back. The run’s notification says how many weren’t sent, and your audit lognames them. Held orders aren’t sent later that day; the first run after you resume works out its orders afresh.

When to reach for it

Anything that makes you want a breath: surprise volatility, drift you haven’t investigated (a mismatch between SleeveFolio’s records and your broker’s), a strategy change you want to review before it acts. Pause is free to reach for: it never costs you anything but the trades it skips.

How to pause

On desktop the kill switch sits in the top bar on every authenticated screen, or press ⌘⇧P from any device with a keyboard. On a phone it’s in the navigation menu’s Kill switch section: tap the menu button (☰) at the top-left and scroll to the bottom of the menu. The kill-switch action notifies you on email (always — a safety confirmation that can’t be turned off), plus push and your in-app inbox by default, and lands in your audit log in the same step that pauses trading.

Resuming

Pausing is reversible. While trading is paused, the same control reads Resume: use it in the top bar or the command palette on desktop, or in the navigation menu on a phone, and the next signal run can place orders again. Your caps, sleeve budgets, and every other guardrail still apply when trading resumes.

What Pause is not

It doesn’t touch existing orders or positions. To cancel orders still open at the broker, use Cancel all open orders; to exit positions entirely, Liquidate.
